These are the terms for working with Kate Hatch, trading as Simply Admitted, and for using this site. Using the site or paying a fee means agreeing to them.

Coaching on college application essays. Kate helps a student work out what to write about and how to write it, reads drafts, and suggests changes. She also helps with recommendation strategy, deadlines and the mechanics of an application.
What she does not do is write the essays. The student writes every word — that is both the point of the coaching and the way this tool is built, since every suggested edit has to be accepted by the student before it becomes part of their draft.
Every school asks an applicant to confirm the essay is their own work. It has to be. Kate coaches, suggests and edits; she does not author, and she will not write an essay for a student who asks her to.
Submitting work that is not your own is grounds for a school to withdraw an offer, and it is grounds for Kate to end the engagement without a refund.
Nobody can promise an admission and Kate does not. Admissions decisions are made by committees applying criteria they do not publish, weighing grades, scores, circumstances and an applicant pool that changes every year. The essay is one part of it.
Any figure quoted about past results describes past students and is not a prediction about yours.
The student owns their essays. Every draft, every version, and the finished piece are theirs, to use anywhere and for anything, with no permission needed and no credit owed. Kate claims nothing over a student’s writing.
Kate owns her own materials — her prompt library, her strategy documents, the notes she writes and this site. Those are for a client’s use during an engagement and are not to be republished or shared.
A review or testimonial is used only where it was given, unless Kate asks for and receives permission to use it more widely.
There is no way to sign yourself up. An account exists because Kate created it, and invitations are for the person they were addressed to. Do not share a sign-in link or a password, and tell Kate if you think somebody else has it.
A parent account, where one is offered, is read-and-comment access to that parent’s own child’s work. It does not carry the right to write or submit on the student’s behalf.
Complete consulting is $4,000 for one school, with additional schools priced on the introductory call. Hourly consulting is $250 an hour. A deposit holds a place in the cycle and the balance is due as agreed. Invoicing happens outside this site; no card details are ever entered here.
The introductory call is free and carries no obligation. Once the strategy session has taken place the fee is not refundable, because that session is the work — it is where the whole application gets its shape, and it cannot be un-given. Before that session, anything paid is returned in full on request.
If Kate has to end an engagement for a reason of her own, she refunds the part not yet worked.
Do not try to reach another family’s work, break the sign-in, overload the site, or use it to store anything unrelated to an application. It is a small tool for a small practice and it runs on trust more than on defenses.
Either side can stop. A student keeps their writing either way — ask and you will be sent everything you wrote. Access to the site ends when the engagement does, and the record is archived until you ask for it to be deleted.
The site is provided as it is. Kate will keep it working and fix what breaks, but cannot promise it is never unavailable and cannot be responsible for a deadline missed because of a technical fault, a lost internet connection or an email that a provider did not deliver. Keep your own copy of anything you cannot afford to lose, and do not leave a submission to the last hour.
Nothing here limits liability for anything that cannot lawfully be limited. Otherwise, liability for any claim connected to this service is limited to the fees paid for it.
These terms are governed by the law of the State of California, and any dispute belongs in the courts there.
If these terms change, the date at the top changes and anyone with an account is told by email. A change never applies retroactively to an engagement already agreed.
